How "GOOD" is Good Friday?

To some, it's just another day.  To some, it's a holiday they get off from work.  To some, they don't even understand what it's about.  To others, it's a day that commemorates the greatest gift ever given to humanity from the greatest giver ever!

The day Jesus Christ died on the cross of Calvary is celebrated as "Good Friday" (even though Jesus was crucified on a Thursday if you study the scriptures).

Some might think, why not call it "Bad Friday"?  Death is bad, right!?  Death does have connotations of sadness, right?

However, in this case, regardless of the other reasons out there, Jesus' death was "good" in the sense it led to His resurrection on Sunday morning which means the "believer" will also be raised in the newness of life.  This is good.

In fact, the believer has Heaven as a present possession in God’s eyes but will experience it upon the death of the physical body. (2 Corinthians 5:6-8; Ephesians 2:6 KJV). This also is good.

And Jesus' death was "good" in the sense that He paid for the sins of the whole world, satisfying the justice of God. This, again, is good.

In fact, all of these things are great! His death is the ultimate demonstration of love; AGAPE LOVE!

Even though God hates sin, He loved the world (humanity) at that point at Calvary, so much so that HE SENT HIS SON TO DIE FOR YOU and for me (John 3:16 KJV)!

The sinless Son of God loved the lost and hellbound YOU so much, that He shed His blood, dying for YOUR sins, paying your sin debt, in YOUR stead, on YOUR behalf (1 Corinthians 15:1-4; Ephesians 1:7 KJV).

But who can forgive sins but God? That's because Jesus IS GOD; GOD manifested in the flesh (Luke 5:21, John 1:1-3 KJV).

HIS DEATH WAS GOOD FOR YOU. BUT ONLY if you place your faith, trusting in what He had done for you at the cross of Calvary (Romans 3:22 KJV)!

You cannot earn salvation through your own human efforts apart from Christ; salvation is only through trusting in Christ's work at Calvary's cross.

Jesus Christ then was RAISED on the following Sunday morning for OUR Justification (Romans 4:25 KJV)!

And if Christ was raised for YOUR justification, and YOU trusted in Christ's death, burial, and resurrection as payment for your sins, then you have eternal life as a present possession (Romans 6:4; 6:23 KJV).

If Jesus died and did not rise from the dead as the scriptures prophesied, YOU would eventually die in YOUR sins, having no hope of eternal life, and our preaching is simply as vain and dead as any other religion (Ephesians 1:20; 1 Corinthians 15:13-15).

But guess what? Is God a man that He should lie? Not a chance (Numbers 23:19, Titus 1:2 KJV).

Are you saved? Is Friday Good for you? Then you have eternal life and YOU have a certain hope in this world that most of the world cannot...or simply will not understand.

You have victory in CHRIST! Thank Him for it! Love Him for it! Love your brothers and sisters in Christ for it! Share the message! Proclaim His good news!

If you are not saved, today is your day!

Romans 5:8

"But God commendeth (proved, demonstrated) HIS LOVE TOWARD US (you and I), in that, while we were yet sinners, CHRIST DIED FOR US."

Have a blessed day,

Brother Michael
