5 Things Happen to YOU When You Trust In Christ!

Do you know what happens to YOU the very precise instant you are SAVED by grace through faith by trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ’s shed blood at the cross of Calvary as payment for your sins?

There are FIVE…count them…FIVE things that happen to you in the twinkling of an eye by which YOU ARE ETERNALLY SECURE!

Do you know how fast the twinkling of an eye is?  According to Google, it is about one billionth of a second.  The following five things happen to you that fast after you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.

You can easily remember them by this simple acronym C.R.I.B.S.

And here they are, in no order of importance, because they ALL occur simultaneously:

 

1)  You are spiritually CIRCUMCISED:

Imagine a chain affixing or constraining your condemned soul and spirit to your dead, sinful body.  When you place your trust in Christ, at that very moment, your corrupt body of sin—that is, your sinful nature—is cut off by the operation of God and you are made alive, risen with Christ! 

You are no longer in bondage to sin.  You are no longer under the sinful dead man’s control and dominion.  You don’t have to sin any longer.  Your inner man is set free from your old man—that sinful nature—by the circumcision of Christ!

Colossians 2:11-12

“In whom also YE ARE CIRCUMCISED with the circumcision made WITHOUT HANDS, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:

Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the OPERATION OF GOD, who hath raised him from the dead.”

 

2)  You are REGENERATED:

The moment you trust in Christ, your dead spirit experiences a new birth take effect.  Darkness becomes light.  Your spirit is made alive!  The Spirit of God washes your spirit such that it is renewed.  The Holy Spirit of God bears witness with your spirit that you now are a child of God!

Ephesians 2:1

“And you hath he QUICKENED (made alive), who were dead in trespasses and sins;”

 

Titus 3:3-5

“For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another.

BUT AFTER that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

NOT BY WORKS of righteousness which WE HAVE DONE, BUT according to his mercy he saved us, by the WASHING of REGENERATION, and RENEWING of the Holy Ghost;”

 

1 Corinthians 6:11

“… but ye are WASHED, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and BY THE SPIRIT OR OUR GOD.

 

3)  You are INDWELT by the Holy Spirit:

That very instant you trust in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit of God takes permanent residence within you!  

1 Corinthians 6:19 

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the HOLY GHOST which is IN YOU, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”

 

Romans 8:9

“But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the SPIRIT of GOD DWELL IN YOU. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

 

2 Timothy 1:13-14

“Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me (the apostle Paul), in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.  That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the HOLY GHOST which DWELLETH IN US (believers).”

 

4)  You are BAPTIZED into Christ:

When you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life, you are BAPTIZED by the Holy Spirit of God into Christ—this IS NOT water in which I speak. 

You are also buried with Him into death by baptism—death on the cross of Calvary—and you have risen with Him in the likeness of His resurrection. 

Of course, you have not physically “experienced” His death, burial, and resurrection, but you receive it by “position”; therefore, you should walk according to the grace He has given you and trust you WILL be raised in the rapture to come!

Romans 6:3-4

“Know ye not, that so many of us as were BAPTIZED INTO JESUS CHRIST were baptized into his death?

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

 

1 Corinthians 12:12-13

“For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

For by one (Holy) Spirit are WE ALL BAPTIZED INTO ONE BODY, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.”

 

5)  You are SEALED with the Holy Spirit:

When you are saved, you are sealed permanently while in this body; NOT BY, but WITH the Holy Spirit of Promise!  When God seals you, you are as good as sealed with the Spirit of God as an earnest of your heavenly inheritance! 

Ephesians 1:13

“In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were SEALED with that HOLY SPIRIT of PROMISE,”

 

Ephesians 4:30

“And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are SEALED unto the day of redemption.”

 

2 Corinthians 1:21-22

“Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;

Who hath also SEALED US, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.”

 

It takes only ONE TIME to trust in what Christ has done for you at the cross of Calvary.  And when you rest in His shed blood as payment for your sin debt, those five things immediately take place. 

You are not only SAVED, but YOU HAVE ETERNAL SECURITY.  Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.  God does not lie, nor does His precious Word!

Remember what the apostle Paul says in Romans 8:38 & 39:

“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Cut the CRAP—Give me the GOSPEL!

A QUICK ANSWER TO A DIRECT QUESTION! How can I be SAVED, escape Hell, and be guaranteed ETERNAL LIFE when I die? WHY DID GOD CREATE SATAN, KNOWING SATAN WOULD SIN?

Here is another question one of my young Sunday School students asked: “why did God create Satan, knowing Satan would sin?”  Of course, it is an interesting question to ponder. Let’s begin by asking this: Is it true that God knew Satan would sin?   YES, of course!   God, undoubtably knew Satan would sin and even created him anyway. (If you look back at my February 18, 2023, post, “Did GOD Know it Before it Happened?”   You will see how the Bible demonstrates that God is omniscient—that is, He is ALL knowing.   There is nothing new to God.   His wisdom and intellect are beyond measure, beyond comprehension.   He exists outside of time and can see from the beginning to the end.   All things are finite, but God is infinite and everlasting (Psalm 90:2).)
