Did GOD Know it Before it Happened?

Did God know Satan would fall? Spoiler alert: Absolutely.

Does God know your decisions before you make them? The short answer is, YES!

God knows ALL things. Our GOD is OMNISCIENT—all-seeing, all-knowing, and having INFINITE knowledge.

Wester's 1828 dictionary defines OMNISCIENT as having universal knowledge or knowledge of all things; infinitely knowing; all-seeing; as the omniscient God.

If God was deficient in any area of understanding and knowledge, then He could not be God. Plain and simple.

Let God be true and every man a liar, as His Word states in Romans 3:4, which I paraphrased.

God knows YOUR thoughts before they are birthed as a seed in your mind.  He knows the outcome of an event before a person, even Satan, who was at first Lucifer, puts it into action.  God knew his HEART and He knows yours too!

What did Lucifer plan in his heart?

Isaiah 14:12-15

“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!

For THOU (Lucifer, who then was Satan) HAS SAID IN THINE HEART, I WILL ascend into heaven, I WILL exalt my throne above the stars of God: I WILL sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

I WILL ascend above the heights of the clouds; I WILL be like the most High (GOD).

YET THOU SHALT BE BROUGHT DOWN TO HELL, to the sides of the pit.”

What does the Bible say about God knowing this thing before it happened?

Isaiah 46:9-10 

“…I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and THERE IS NONE LIKE ME, DECLARING THE END FROM THE BEGINNING, and from ancient times the THINGS THAT ARE NOT YET DONE…”

Isaiah demonstrates that God knows your future thoughts before you know them! And again, He knew Lucifer’s too.

The Psalmist said:

Psalm 139:2-4 

“Thou knowest my downsitting and mine uprising, THOU UNDERSTANDEST MY THOUGHT AFAR OFF.

Thou compassest my path and my lying down, AND ART ACQUAINTED WITH ALL MY WAYS.

For THERE IS NOT A WORD IN MY TONGUE, but, lo, O Lord, THOU KNOWEST IT ALTOGETHER.”

Don't we serve an awesome God?  Who else could know such things?  Nobody but God!

Job 37:16 

“Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of HIM WHICH IS PERFECT (complete and full) IN KNOWLEDGE?

Even in Job, the oldest book in the Bible, God's Word tells us God is perfect, complete, and never lacking, in any area of understanding.

1 John 3:19-20 

“And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him. For if our heart condemn us, GOD is greater than our heart, and KNOWETH ALL THINGS."

Psalm 147:5 

“Great is our Lord, and of great power: HIS UNDERSTANDING IS INFINITE (without limits, unbounded by time, space, quantities, no end, no beginning, etc).”

We can certainly pull from many more verses in the inspired Word to prove God's omniscience, but we'll keep it short for now.

As we can see, the Bible is very clear, God knows ALL things. He is not constrained by time or space. He is eternal.

Even with over 8 billion people in the world, He can see all things as they unfold and have seen them before they've actually occurred in time.

And yet, even with His awesome omniscience, 8 billion-plus people, even Lucifer, whom God created, He created them all with FREE WILL!

Cut the CRAP—Give me the GOSPEL!

A QUICK ANSWER TO A DIRECT QUESTION! How can I be SAVED, escape Hell, and be guaranteed ETERNAL LIFE when I die? WHY DID GOD CREATE SATAN, KNOWING SATAN WOULD SIN?

Here is another question one of my young Sunday School students asked: “why did God create Satan, knowing Satan would sin?”  Of course, it is an interesting question to ponder. Let’s begin by asking this: Is it true that God knew Satan would sin?   YES, of course!   God, undoubtably knew Satan would sin and even created him anyway. (If you look back at my February 18, 2023, post, “Did GOD Know it Before it Happened?”   You will see how the Bible demonstrates that God is omniscient—that is, He is ALL knowing.   There is nothing new to God.   His wisdom and intellect are beyond measure, beyond comprehension.   He exists outside of time and can see from the beginning to the end.   All things are finite, but God is infinite and everlasting (Psalm 90:2).)
